We’re looking for a friendly, reliable shop assistant to join our small team of cheese lovers here at The Cheeseboard in Greenwich.
If you love great food, enjoy chatting with customers, and don’t mind getting stuck in (and smelling of cheese), we’d love to hear from you.
What you’ll be doing:
- Serving customers over the counter — offering tasters, helping them choose, and wrapping up their cheeses.
- Preparing and cutting cheese accurately to order (training provided).
- Restocking and rotating stock, keeping the counter full, tidy, and looking delicious.
- Answering questions about cheese styles, pairings, and provenance.
- Packing orders and gift hampers, especially in the run-up to Christmas.
- Maintaining hygiene and food safety standards.
- Working as part of a small, hands-on team where everyone mucks in whether that’s washing up, breaking down boxes, or cutting whole wheels of Comté.
What we’re looking for:
- Friendly, confident, and happy working with the public.
- Reliable and organised under pressure (especially when it’s busy!)
- A genuine interest in food — cheese experience is a bonus, but not essential.
- Absolutely must be available for Christmas rush – especially 19th to 24th December (our busiest time of year!)
Hours: Part-time available — must include Saturday shifts.
Pay: London living-wage, with staff discount and lots of cheese tasting!
