Organic Sheep’s Milk Yoghurt





Traditional set Greek yoghurt made from non-homogenised organic sheep’s milk with a thick, creamy clotted top.

Produced in the mountainous region of Drama in Northern Greece in a dairy formed of a small farmers’ cooperative, from the milk of herds that graze in the local pastures.
The cooperative dairy is certified for organic animal husbandry; raising their own animals and producing their own animal feed. A carefully selected mix of organic seeds and greens is cultivated on their land to cater to the nutritional needs of the animals. The animals are very well cared for with high welfare standards in place and are free to roam daily on the fields surrounding the dairy.

The dairy exclusively uses their own organic milk for the production of the yoghurt. There are two daily milk deliveries, the morning one is used for the production of the fermented products and the evening one for the fresh milk while the production of the yoghurt is completed in just 48 hours after the milk is collected from the animals.

The milk is heat-treated in traditional vats and no homogenisation takes place, keeping all valuable nutrients intact in the final products. The fat molecules are not broken down into the milk and instead they float to the surface, forming the creamy clotted top that is characteristic of this traditional greek yoghurt.

Live cultures in greek yoghurt improve lactose digestion of the product making it a better choice for individuals who have difficulty digesting lactose.
